Looting of relief in Wadi Saleh locality, Central Darfur

On July 7, 2024, gunshot was heard in Wadi Saleh locality, Central Darfur state. The next morning, YCON observers confirmed that the shooting took place at the site of the relief warehouses, and that large quantities of relief materials were looted by using two Landcruiser vehicles. Fingers point to the retired Captain Abdel Sabour Adam Mazen and the RSF commander in the sector, Captain Osman Abdel Karim, as the culprits behind the looting. The distribution process witnessed some tensions, as two days were set for the distribution. The first day, July 6, was dedicated to distributing relief to nomads and the second day to IDPs in the locality, but some nomads showed up on the second day and threatened the aid workers with weapons, forcing them to distribute the relief to them by force. Most of the nomads are RSF officers or community leaders who are in good economic situation and not in need of support.
