Zamzam camp for displaced people is located southwest of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state in western Sudan. It was established in 2003 during the war in Darfur, but the number of displaced people fleeing El Fasher to the camp has increased due to the intensification of fighting in the vicinity of the city and some of its peripheral neighborhoods, where SAF and its allies from the armed movements are repelling the attacks of the RSF trying to control the city, in the context of the war raging since April 2023. Zamzam camp is currently sheltering more than half a million displaced people in about 40 shelters.
